Springstein

It originally aired on Nov. 17, 1986.

In this episode ALF becomes jealous of Lynn's new boyfriend and makes her a rock video to try and win her over

Plot Summary[]

Prologue[]

The family is having dinner and Lynn gets a call from Scott Maynard a guy from her school that she has a crush on. He needs a place for his band to store needs to store their musician, while his dad has a garage sale. Lynn convinces Kate & Willie to allow it. ALF is upset because he and Lynn planned to redecorate the laundry room where he sleeps, and now has to help Scott move the equipment in. Willie reminds ALF of the rules about the limits on redecorating

Act One[]

Scott and Lynn are in the garage and Scott invites her out to a basketball game while ALF spies on them. ALF and Brian glue wallpaper to the laundry room screens, to which Kate has Brian remove. ALF then asks Kate for advice on how to woo the ladies, saying she's pretty and wants to know how to win someone in the house over. Kate tells him about some things Willie did to her when they were dating.

The next day ALF is trying to figure out how to work the synthesizer, and Willie says it needs to be turned on first. ALF tells Willie he has written a poem and wants to put it to music. Willie reads the poem and gives ALF a quick lesson on some chords which might be good to use for the song, which ALF is repulsed by for being too soft.

Alf then plays a tune that is more upbeat then plays the saxaphone

Act Two[]

Kate and Willie are in the living room resting and are interrupted by a phone call from Mrs. Ochmonek calls to complain about the noise, to which Willie says Brian did (to cover for ALF) and that he'll quiet it down. Kate then believes the video is for her and tells Willie that ALF has a crush on her. Willie than laughs hysterically and Kate tells him to drop it and he tells her he's very serious about her, and then becomes frisky with her.

ALF walks in to look for Lynn, but she and Scott are out on a date. Willie mentions that there were complaints about the noise to which ALF mentions that he made a rock video for Lynn.. Kate then nervously runs into the other room in. Kate then explains she's upset about ALF having a crush on Lynn, not because she jealous it's not her but because she doesn't like the idea him having a crush on their daughter.

Scott brings Lynn home and ask him if she'd like to go out again, ALF shouts "No!" from inside. Lynn says it's probably her dad watching a movie or fighting with her mom, but then ALF addresses Scott directly and tells him to either leave or be sprayed with a hose. Scott leaves, and Lynn enters the house in a fury to scold ALF. Willie walks in and tells Lynn about the video ALF made for her. He permits her to watch it just once. The video "You're The One Who's Out Of This World." consists of ALF as a one-man band playing the keyboards, electric guitar, saxophone and drums and singing. The video also has some computer animation smoke machines and strobes. Lynn is amazed about it and tells ALF that she loves him but only platonicaly. She kisses him just as Kate walks into the room to see it.

Epilogue[]

Inspired by ALF's rock video, Willie decides to shoot a video of himself playing and singing "Saturday Night's Alright (for Fighting)." Lynn walks in and Willie tells her he's hoping to surprise Lynn with a video.
